Kōrero mō te Tūranga | About the Role

Youth Engagement, Education and Enviroschools Advisors will join our experienced Youth Engagement and Education Team to provide leadership in youth engagement practices across the organisation, provide professional development to teachers and school leaders, and deliver educational programmes that connect tamariki with Environment Canterbury’s work and the Enviroschools kaupapa.

Sitting within our wider Communications and Engagement group, you will champion youth voice within regional decision making by providing youth-focused content through Environment Canterbury’s communication channels and connecting young people with engagement initiatives happening in their communities.

Mōu │ About You
Your experience working in Environmental Education for Sustainability will enable you to be confident leading professional development for kaiako and hands-on sessions with tamariki.

Your excellent communication and organisational skills will make busy teachers’ lives easier and help to raise the profile of young people doing amazing things.

 Mātau ā-Wheako | Experience  

You’ll be tertiary qualified in a relevant field

  • Teaching and/or delivering education within a school setting
  • Engagement with young people in a setting outside of the classroom
  • Knowledge and expertise of the environment and the natural world
  • Professional Development facilitation and/or delivery to others

Your commitment to understanding and honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and championing matauranga Māori will be highly valued.
