As a regional council, we are responsible for managing natural resources including air, soil, water and land. We work in partnership with mana whenua Ngāi Tahu to protect the health of our environment to ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for our region.

Our mahi (work) is organised around the delivery of our three core services:

  • Environmental Regulation and Protection
  • Community Preparedness and Response to Hazards
  • Public Transport

Council plays an important role in responding to national legislation and policy changes – this mahi is part of our operating environment and is embedded in our everyday mahi. The current proposals from central government are significant, and Council is working through the opportunities and implications. However, our mahi must continue to deliver our three core services for our partners, communities and te taiao (environment).

 

Kōrero mō te Tūranga | About the Role

As Team Leader IT Service Delivery, you'll lead a team responsible for delivering exceptional IT support and services to our kaimahi across Environment Canterbury. This is a pivotal leadership role that combines people leadership, operational excellence and strategic thinking to ensure technology services are reliable, customer-focused and aligned with organisational priorities.

You'll work closely with Digital Solutions leaders to continuously improve service delivery, manage critical technology services, oversee end-user IT assets and licensing, and ensure service management practices meet the needs of a modern organisation. Just as importantly, you'll inspire and develop a high-performing team while helping shape the future direction of digital service delivery at Environment Canterbury.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the delivery of end-user IT support and service management functions.
  • Driving continuous improvement across IT service management processes and frameworks.
  • Managing incident, request and service delivery performance against agreed service levels.
  • Leading vendor, contract and technology asset management activities.
  • Building an engaged, high-performing team through coaching, mentoring and development.

Mōu │ About You

You're a people-focused technology leader who enjoys creating excellent customer experiences through high-quality IT services. You bring a strong understanding of IT service management practices, thrive in complex environments and know how to balance strategic priorities with day-to-day operational delivery.

You are a collaborative and influential leader who can build trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation. You'll be passionate about developing people, improving processes and ensuring technology services enable others to do their best work.

Mātau ā-Wheako | Experience

Ideally, you'll have a tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline along with:

  • Significant experience leading an IT Service Delivery or ICT operations function.
  • Proven experience leading and developing technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of ITSM frameworks such as ITIL and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience managing IT assets, licensing, vendors and service providers.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences alike
  • At least five years' experience leading an ICT service delivery function.
  • Experience leading teams in Agile environments.
  • Strong experience with service management, release management and ITSM tools.
  • Experience managing budgets, contracts and organisational stakeholders
