As a regional council, we are responsible for managing natural resources including air, soil, water and land. We work in partnership with mana whenua Ngāi Tahu to protect the health of our environment to ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for our region.

Our mahi (work) is organised around the delivery of our three core services:
- Environmental Regulation and Protection
- Community Preparedness and Response to Hazards
- Public Transport
Council plays an important role in responding to national legislation and policy changes – this mahi is part of our operating environment and is embedded in our everyday mahi. The current proposals from central government are significant, and Council is working through the opportunities and implications. However, our mahi must continue to deliver our three core services for our partners, communities and te taiao (environment).
Kōrero mō te Tūranga | About the Role
This role sits at the heart of improving how we work. As a Process Mapping Officer, you will map current and future processes to ensure they are clear, consistent and aligned, supporting delivery of the Strategic Transition Programme and wider organisational initiatives.
Working across teams, you’ll help design better ways of working, support leaders with process improvements, and ensure process knowledge is captured and maintained to enable efficient, customer-focused outcomes.
- Map current processes using Nintex Process Manager
- Support process design aligned to organisational change initiatives
- Work with leaders and SMEs to document ways of working
- Maintain process documentation and ensure consistency
- Contribute to efficiency initiatives

You’re a detail-oriented and systems-focused professional who enjoys bringing clarity to how things work. You’re highly organised, confident working across teams, can communicate clearly, and bring a proactive, problem-solving mindset to your work.
- Experience mapping business processes in a complex environment
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to see connections and end-to-end processes
- Comfortable working in a fast-changing environment
- Proactive, organised, and solutions-focused approach
Mātau ā-Wheako | Experience
- At least 3 years’ experience with process mapping tools and methodologies
- Experience using Nintex Process Manager (or similar BPM tools)
- Knowledge of project management and business process practices
- Experience working in large, complex or regulated environments (desirable)
- Relevant qualification in systems design or similar discipline
