Waitaha - our Canterbury region - is like no other and we are proud to call it home. We are privileged to be working with Ngā Papatipu Rūnanga, stakeholders, and our wider community to protect our environment, including water, land, and air through regulation and planning. As a Regional Council we're responsible for flood protection, public transport, civil defence, and more.

Kōrero mō te Tūranga | About the Role
You are an experienced Project Manager ready to join our Change and Improvement team for a fixed term through to the end of June 2026. Your primary purpose will be to lead and coordinate project activities, monitor project progress, set deadlines and undertake appropriate documentation to support project governance. . You will work closely with cross-functional teams to foster a collaborative environment, mitigate risks, and deliver high-quality results. Your expertise in planning, resource management, and stakeholder communication will be essential in achieving project goals and enhancing overall team performance.
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment
- Clearly task the project teams and support the business to achieve desired outcomes
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues
- Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders
- Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and business expectations
Mōu │ About You
You’ll be a proactive and collaborative individual who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a knack for problem-solving. A successful project manager will have a proven track record of managing projects from start to finish, with a focus on delivering results on time and within budget. They should ideally have five years’ experience in project management. We value individuals who are adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of motivating their team members to achieve excellence.
- Project Management Qualifications or related field. Ideally Agile/Prince2
- Minimum 5 years of digital project management experience, ideally with experience of the public sector.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrates adaptability, attention to detail, and motivational skills
