Kōrero mō te Tūranga | About the Role

The regulatory function at Environment Canterbury comprises our Consents and Compliance sections, which are both key focus areas of our organisation. 

This key role provides support to the GM so they can work effectively to deliver on key outcomes in a timely manner, this includes ensuring the GM is fully briefed and prepared for meetings.

More about the role:

  • Manage administrative and operational tasks for the GM such as diary scheduling & monitoring their inbox
  • Build & foster relationships with a cross-section of internal stakeholders
  • Coordination of team events, large section meetings & all related activities such as organising catering, venue, travel & agenda
  • Process expense claims, purchase order requests & travel requests on behalf of the GM

Mōu │ About You

Ideally, you’ll have experience in an administration role supporting a senior leader or executive team member. Local government experience is a bonus but not essential. You’ll be a quick thinker, who can handle variety and pace, while maintaining accuracy.

Mātau ā-Wheako | Experience  

  • A minimum for 5 years relevant experience
  • Highly developed administrative support and organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise, but also adapt to changing priorities quickly and calmly
  • A high level of situational awareness, maturity and initiative
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated competence in commonly used Microsoft 365 programmes
  • Capable of working autonomously and as part of a wider team
  • Professional written and verbal skills
