As a regional council, we are responsible for managing natural resources including air, soil, water and land. We work in partnership with mana whenua Ngāi Tahu to protect the health of our environment to ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for our region.
The region’s evolving environmental and political context means we will continue to be agile and adaptive, as we respond to regulatory and environmental changes.
Our mahi (work) is organised around the delivery of our three core services:

Kōrero mō te Tūranga | About the Role
Our Communications and Engagement Group engage with communities, Ngāi Tahu, stakeholders, and media on a range of issues relating to our environment and the work of the regional council. High on our agenda are climate change, community resilience, water quality, flood protection, public transport, biodiversity, consents, and compliance.
This is an opportunity to join and lead our Brand and Design Team who function as an in-house agency, the team is responsible for:
- our brand
- design services
- the production and management communications materials and assets across a range of channels.

About You │ Mōu:
You’ll be an experienced leader who can inspire and develop our in-house Brand and Design team. Utilise your experience and skills to guide the team, build capability, manage resources, workflow and improve systems. Apply creative thinking, successfully progressing from concepts to the delivery of high-quality creative solutions across a range of collateral, campaigns and channels.
- Focus on nurturing relationships, taking a collaborative approach and value working in partnership
- Confidently navigate in a complex fast-paced environment and ensure high-quality outputs that align with organisational goals
