Kōrero mō te Tūranga | About the Role
You’ll be part of a resource management planning team that ensures permissions are in place to undertake and protect Environment Canterbury’s flood and river resilience work (flood and erosion protection, land drainage and river enhancement works).  As the Rivers Monitoring Officer you’ll develop systems and processes to support compliance monitoring and work across the section and within the community to support best practice. You’ll respond to any reported incidents or breaches, proactively undertake compliance monitoring, provide technical advice and process gravel authorisation applications. 

 

Mōu │ About You 
You’ll be tertiary qualified in Planning, Natural Resources, Environmental Management, or other relevant discipline. You’ll be a self-motivated, solutions focussed, strong communicator who enjoys developing collaborative relationships internally and with communities and stakeholders. Ideally, you’ll have experience working with the Resource Management Act and compliance monitoring, specifically relating to rivers and freshwater environments. 

We are looking for someone with the following:
•    Full Class 1 Drivers Licence
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
•    Clear written and verbal communication skills
•    Commitment to strong relationships with our Papatipu Runanga partners, communities and stakeholders.
