Kōrero mō te Tūranga | About the Role
You’ll be part of a resource management planning team that ensures permissions are in place to undertake and protect Environment Canterbury’s flood and river resilience work. Your focus will be to support the processing of applications to extract gravel from riverbeds.
Key tasks include:
• Coordinate and process requests from the public for gravel authorisation permissions (gravel extraction from rivers)
• Following documented audit procedures, GIS based audits, record keeping and drafting conditions for permissions
• Carry out project tasks, data analysis and field visits as required.
• Other general support in coordinating and responding to email queries and/or processing Bylaw Authorities

You’ll be a strong communicator, someone who connects easily with the community, customers, members of your team, and key stakeholders. Your ability to prioritise a varied workload and solution focused approach will ensure you enjoy this role. You’ll have autonomy to work independently but also as part of a supportive team.
Mātau ā-Wheako | Experience
You’ll be qualified in Planning, Natural Resources, Environmental Management, or other relevant discipline and have knowledge and experience in resource management planning, the Resource Management Act and Local Government Act, particularly relating to rivers and freshwater.
• Committed to a strong relationship with our Papatipu Runanga partners, communities and stakeholders
• Experience processing applications such as resource consents or similar
• Familiar with GIS, competent with Microsoft tools
• Data entry and database management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
The role is suitable for graduates entering the workplace, or for those with experience looking for part-time hours of work
