Kōrero mō te Tūranga | About the Role
Te Hāpai Ō is an ambitious multi-year, change programme that is deliberately transforming the way we work to meet the needs of the future. As a Te Hāpai Ō Principal, you will facilitate capability building that supports our Change Strategy. Using systems leadership methodology and intervenion theory you will help leaders to solve issues through a different level of thinking.
This role will build relationships with business units that are being supported by the programme to redesign and implement their work. You’ll incorporate business learnings, critical thinking and expert knowledge to ensure the change is successfully implemented in line with our vision.
Mōu │ About You
Ideally, you’ll have knowledge and skills in systems leadership theory and intervention theory relating to the design and management of work and how to change it. You’ll bring experience in the development and implementation of behaviour change initiatives or projects and changing environments.

- Delivery of training leaders and frontline staff

- Natural collaborator skilled at working with others across the organisation
- Building trusting and valued relationships
- Political nous, and experience in large and complex organisations at a senior level
- 5+ years public sector experience is highly desirable
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant field is required
- Understanding of working in Treaty partnership is a must – experience doing so is highly desirable.
- Experience working with elected governors is desirable.
- A strong customer and community focus is vital when identifying change and improvement opportunities for the delivery of our organisation’s services.

Hours of work – Fixed-term 12 months – Full-time 40 hours per week
Location – This role is primarily office based and located at Environment Canterbury, 200 Tuam Street, Christchurch Central.
As the work of the role focuses on the organisation’s work across the Canterbury Region, from time to time there may be travel required to other locations within the region, based on the needs of the work.
